Koreatown Youth and Community Center
Join KYCC for a community tree planting event and be part of making Los Angeles greener and more beautiful! Come connect with neighbors, and help us create a more vibrant community, one tree at a time. We can't do it alone and need your help in greening Los Angeles. Learn what it takes to plant a tree and watch it grow for decades to come. Volunteers will be working in small teams and work on planting, staking, mulching, and watering of young trees. Duties will also include working alongside staff and volunteers to ensure trees are planted safely and correctly while engaging positively with community members throughout the event. All volunteers, including minors MUST register by using the "volunteer" button at the bottom of this page. Anyone under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult throughout the duration of the event. Event Information: Location: 6300 Orange St. Los Angeles, CA 90048 (look for the KYCC table when you arrive) Parking: Street parking only. Carpooling and public transit is always encouraged! Date: Saturday, May 30th, 2026 Time: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Impact: Did you know? • Trees absorb enough CO, on each acre, over a years time, to equal the amount you produce when you drive your car 26,000 miles. • Trees increase ground water recharge that is significantly reduced by paving. • Strategically placed trees can be as effective as other energy saving home improvements, such as insulation and the installation of weather-tight windows and doors. Trees can help reduce your heating and cooling costs • Trees can help cool the "heat island" effect in our inner cities. These islands result from storage of thermal energy in concrete, steel and asphalt. Heat islands are 3 to 10 degrees warmer than the surrounding countryside. • Healthy trees can add up to 15 percent to residential property value.
