Koreatown Youth and Community Center
Join the Koreatown Youth and Community Center (KYCC) to plant trees, beautify our neighborhoods and leave a legacy for the future. We can't do it alone and need your help in greening Los Angeles and the space around 6th Ave. School for our children and families. Learn what it takes to plant a tree and watch it grow for decades to come. Volunteers will work in small teams to dig holes, plant 30 trees and attach stakes to beautify our communities and build a healthier Los Angeles for everyone. This free event will include vendors, resources, food, tree planting, entertainment and a fruit tree giveaway! All volunteers, including minors MUST register by using the "volunteer" button at the bottom of this page. Anyone under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult throughout the duration of the event. Event Information: Location: 3109 6th Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90018 (look for the KYCC table when you arrive) Parking: Street parking only. Please note there will be a street closure on 30th st. between 6th and 7th. Carpooling and public transit is always encouraged! Date: Saturday, October 18th, 2025 Time: 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Impact: Did you know? • Trees absorb enough CO, on each acre, over a years time, to equal the amount you produce when you drive your car 26,000 miles. • Trees increase ground water recharge that is significantly reduced by paving. • Strategically placed trees can be as effective as other energy saving home improvements, such as insulation and the installation of weather-tight windows and doors. Trees can help reduce your heating and cooling costs • Trees can help cool the "heat island" effect in our inner cities. These islands result from storage of thermal energy in concrete, steel and asphalt. Heat islands are 3 to 10 degrees warmer than the surrounding countryside. • Healthy trees can add up to 15 percent to residential property value.
Our goal for this day is to plant 30 low-water, drought-tolerant shade street trees.
