Koreatown Youth and Community Center

Youth Services provides safe, accessible and high quality programs for Koreatown youth. KYCC’s afterschool programs have been a mainstay in our organization since the day we opened our agency in 1975. Nearly forty four years ago, we recognized the need for support for recently immigrated Korean youth who were having trouble adjusting, both culturally and linguistically, to life in the United States. Today, with over 60 percent of Koreatown residents being foreign born, KYCC knows that essential services for all children in our multiethnic community are still a necessity, and that case management, enrichment activities, and academic services are critical to their emotional and educational well-being. Our volunteers help to tutor our K-12th grade students in our afterschool programs by assisting our instructors with homework help and enrichment activities. While our internships in youth services are currently full, our primary volunteer needs at this time are: • Tutors or workshop leaders for our Middle School classroom • General classroom support for our Middle School classroom • Individuals interested in supporting our 6th–12th grade students, particularly with academic support on Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Parking: Street parking only. Please be mindful of posted parking restrictions on Wednesdays and Thursdays in particular. To join, or if you have any questions, please email us at volunteer@kyccla.org.
