Koreatown Youth and Community Center
KYCC’s Koreatown Storytelling Program is an intergenerational, multilingual and multiethnic oral history and digital media program that teaches ethnographic and storytelling techniques to high school students and elders to investigate cultural practices and racial, economic and health inequities in our community. Want to explore Koreatown, interview inspiring elders, and help build a youth-led newsroom? Join Koreatown Storytelling Program and Los Angeles Local News Initiative! We are a community journalism and oral history program where you will learn how to report local news, preserve immigrant stories, and amplify voices often left out of the headlines. Learn how to conduct interviews, write and publish articles, and document the history of our community! REQUIREMENTS • Must commit to a full six-month program (September 2026 - March 2027). We will meet weekly for 2-hour sessions (with breaks for holidays). • Must live or attend school in Koreatown • Be interested in engaging with and learning from elders in their community • Bilingual preferred but not required (Korean, Spanish, Bengali, etc.) • ALL APPLICATIONS DUE BY JULY 31, 2026.
