Health Advocacy Intern

Koreatown Youth and Community Center

Prevention Education (PE) Unit provides evidence-based and innovative alcohol, tobacco and other drugs (ATOD) prevention services to its community to address youth use and ATOD disparities throughout SPA 4 and the greater Los Angeles region using a multi-prong approach based on the social-ecological model and other prevention frameworks. The Health Advocacy Intern will provide support in the areas of coalition work, community education, and outreach. Key Responsibilities: Observe and support daily activities of ATOD prevention program that include but is not limited to: ● social media development, ● informational and educational materials development, ● event planning, implementation, and evaluation ● curriculum planning and implementation, ● community outreach Attend prevention team and coalition meetings, as directed. Participate in weekly supervision with preceptor. Requirements: ● Must be currently enrolled as a college student. ● Awareness of cultural humility and able to work with a diverse population ● Professional, punctual, flexible and reliable ● Have general computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications ● Able to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner ● Provide background check clearance and negative TB test results Time commitment: Minimum of 10 hours per week for at least 3 months. Reports to: Melanie To, MPH, Prevention Education (PE) Manager or preceptor as assigned. THIS POSITION IS CURRENTLY FULL.
