Job Title: Nonprofit Fundraising & Events Intern Reports to: Development Coordinator (primary) and Development Manager (secondary) Internship Address: 3727 W. 6th Street Suite 300 Los Angeles, CA 90020 Status: Part-time internship. A nominal $125 monthly stipend is available to offset costs of transportation and meals. Academic credit may be available depending on your institution, please contact your college advising unit to learn more. Time commitment: Minimum of 8 hours per week for four months, from May through the end of August. Hours must be completed in-person and interns must attend quarterly events. Hours are flexible during the holidays. Position Summary: The Development Intern will work primarily under the guidance of the Development Manager and the secondarily to Development Coordinator. The intern will primarily work hands-on with the Development Coordinator and Development Manager in the planning of and execution of KYCC’s fundraising and community events. Duties Include: • Participating in event planning committee meetings and internal development planning meetings. • Developing event marketing materials and conducting outreach to participants, vendors, donors and sponsors. • Maintaining detailed and accurate event planning records including contacts, sponsors/donors, vendors and partners. • Supporting and leading aspects of quarterly fundraising and community events. • Supporting with KYCC merchandise inventory Learning Outcomes: The Development Intern will leave their term with the following: • A basic understanding of the logistics and operations behind planning large-scale events. • An understanding of donor/sponsor stewardship and engagement, analysis of data to inform decision making, and use of Salesforce Customer Relationship Management platform. • A broad understanding of the nonprofit development field. • Leadership and public speaking skills Required Qualifications: • Currently enrolled in college/university and/or with experience in event planning. • A strong interest in nonprofit development. • Ability to manage your time and projects according to deadlines. • Prior leadership experience through clubs, volunteering, or work. • Strong attention to detail and task-oriented. • A willingness to engage with public speaking, and skills to engage volunteers, interns, donors and community members and work as a team. • Strong verbal and written communication skills to lead meetings, provide direction and build relationships with a variety of stakeholders. • Computer skills and familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite.
