Housing Internship

Koreatown Youth and Community Center

Location: This intern position will be in-person at: 1611 W Montana St., Los Angeles CA 90026. Some travel may be included. Transportation will be provided. Time commitment: Minimum 12 hours per week for at least 3 months. Shifts are available from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Monday - Friday. Summary: Under the supervision of the Housing Coordinator, the intern will provide support in our Intensive Case Management Services (ICMS) Housing program. Duties include administrative tasks, event support, canvassing, organizing and distribution of goods, including groceries and hygiene kits. Duties / Responsibilities: • Support Coordinator with daily walk-in needs of new tenants of Ambrose affordable housing. • Assist with the planning and coordination of community events • Event Support: tabling support; checking people in; various duties including lifting up to 20lbs may be involved, set ups and breakdowns, and light canvassing • Light office management duties: making copies, scanning documents, organizing files, etc • Picking up/dropping off donations with Coordinator • Participate in meetings with funders, team meetings, and other appointments as necessary • Working directly with Supervisors and line staff to support overall project needs • When needed, cover the reception area while performing other responsibilities • Light outreach at small businesses. Qualifications: The ideal candidate has an interest in social work, housing, homelessness, or other relevant disciplines, with great organizational skills. Interest in public engagement strategies, public policy, or politics are a plus but not required. Minimum Requirements / Qualifications (All applicants MUST meet the minimum qualifications): • Bending, kneeling and reaching to load and transport grocery bags and boxes weighing up to 20lbs. • Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills • Ability to communicate with KYCC staff, clients and public and work as a team • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills • Must have experience in and enthusiasm for building relationships and event planning within a non-profit setting. • Must be a self-starter with a positive attitude and the ability to work independently as well as with others. • Seeking compassionate and patient individuals with an appreciation of service to their community. • Ability to lift up to 20lbs THIS POSITION IS CURRENTLY AT CAPACITY- to be added to the waitlist, please contact Ernie Yoshikawa at eyoshikawa@kyccla.org.
