Community Research and Program Evaluation Internship

Koreatown Youth and Community Center

Status: Part-time, unpaid internship. Academic credit may be available depending on your institution, please contact your college advising unit to learn more. Reports to: Nicholas Creason, Research and Evaluation Coordinator Location: This internship will be conducted hybrid remote and in person at 680 S. Wilton Pl. Los Angeles, CA 90005. Time commitment: Minimum of 12 hours per week for at least 3 months. Hours must be completed between Monday – Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Summary: The Koreatown Youth and Community Center (KYCC) Community Research and Program Evaluation (CRPE) Intern Program is accepting applications. Founded in 1975, KYCC’s mission is to serve the evolving needs of Koreatown’s residents, as well as, the Korean American population of the Greater Los Angeles area. By supporting children and their families in the areas of education, health, housing and finances, the whole community will thrive. KYCC provides services in English, Korean and Spanish. Duties / Responsibilities: • This internship program will focus on developing a comprehensive Community Profile. Areas of focus include complying, analyzing and reporting on various demographic trends happening in Los Angeles’ Koreatown and the neighboring neighborhoods. • The goal of the 2023 internship is to identify areas of service gaps, barriers, and demographic trends to improve service delivery, assist with grant proposal and funding opportunities to better serve residents of Koreatown and its surrounding neighborhoods. • Attend relevant meetings, trainings, events and activities, including weekly supervision. Learning objectives: Interns will gain hands-on experience in the fields of research and evaluation; specifically as it relates to program evaluation, program development and administration and volunteerism. Interns will also learn to effectively interact with students from various ethnic backgrounds and have a better understanding working in the field of program development and community-based non-profits. Qualifications: The ideal candidate should be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university program with an interest in public policy, public administration, monitoring and evaluation, nonprofit management, or other relevant disciplines. Spanish/English or Korean/English bilingual is a plus, but not required. PLEASE NOTE, THIS POSITION IS CURRENTLY AT CAPACITY.
